Learning Support
For International Students
Osaka Animation College accepts many international students each year, and enrollees can
obtain a "student" visa.
You can steadily build your skills in an environment where you can learn thoroughly from the
basics, and we will also provide support for your job search! Many international students,
including those who join major animation production companies, have successfully found
employment in Japan!

International Student Q&A
Is there a charge for trial lessons?
All participation is free. Please apply in advance. International student support staff will assist you.
Is there a dormitory?
We have separate dormitories for male and female students. International students can benefit from the Learning Encouragement Dormitory Support System, which offers affordable accommodation. Participants in our Open Campus events can experience a free stay in the dormitories. We also accept viewings at any time, so please feel free to inquire.
Can I obtain a "Student" visa status?
Yes, you can obtain a "Student" visa status. Our school is established by a school juridical person stipulated in Article 64, Paragraph 4 of the Private Schools Act, and is a professional training college (specialized training college) based on Article 124 of the School Education Act. Therefore, students who graduate from our school will be awarded the title "Specialist (Diploma)." Regarding the renewal of your "Student" visa status after enrollment, we will individually contact you with the necessary documents. Please prepare them at that time.
Can I purchase a student commuter pass? Is this school eligible for student discounts?
Yes, our school is an accredited vocational school. Unlike unaccredited schools, you can commute using a student commuter pass. Additionally, student discounts apply to JR travel of more than 101 km one way.
Can I do a part-time job?
It is possible if you apply for and receive permission for activity outside of your visa status. International students are generally permitted to work part-time for up to 28 hours per week. However, please make plans considering the balance between your classes, assignments, and individual practice time.
What time do classes start?
The day starts at 9:30 AM. Please refer to the pages for each department in the school entrance guide (color pamphlet) for a sample daily schedule.
Is there an entrance examination?
In addition to the document screening, we will conduct a primary interview, a secondary interview, and a Japanese language proficiency test. Those who have passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N2 or higher, have scored 200 or higher in the Japanese subject (reading, listening/listening-reading total) on the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU), or have obtained a score of 400 or higher on the Business Japanese Proficiency Test (BJT) will be exempt from the Japanese language proficiency test.
Do the submitted documents have to be in Japanese?
Please submit Japanese translations along with any documents written in languages other than Japanese. (The Japanese translation must include the translator's signature or seal.)
Is it possible to find employment in Japanese animation studios or game companies?
International students have found employment in companies in Tokyo and Osaka. To find employment in Japan, it is essential to acquire a solid foundation of technical skills, as well as the etiquette and manners expected of working professionals. By diligently continuing your studies for two or three years, you will develop practical abilities and increase your chances of finding employment.
I'm worried because I don't have any experience in the field i want to
study
You may notice a difference between students with more experience in the beginning, but everyone starts studying seriously from the same point. As stated in the school guide, every department teaches from the basics. Naturally, all practical training and auditions will be announced to all students in each department. If you aim to improve your level through practical training, your level at the time of enrollment will no longer be an issue. In fact, many students who entered as beginners graduate at the top of their class. More important than being "good" at what you do is whether or not you "enjoy" what you do; that is the most crucial thing when standing at the starting line.
